Three Students Earn Top Honors in Scholastic Visual Arts Competition

Three talented students have been recognized for their artistic achievements in the Scholastic Visual Arts Competition, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious program for creative teens. As the country's largest high school art contest, the competition highlights outstanding student artwork at both regional and national levels.

This year, Steele Songle ’25, Alex Quashne ’27, and Michael Brock ’27, stood out among thousands of submissions. Songle achieved the highest recognition, a Gold Medal, an honor awarded to only 5-7% of submissions. Quashne received three awards, including a Silver Medal and two Honorable Mentions. while Brock earned an Honorable Mention.

Gold Key recipients like Songle will now advance to the national competition, where a distinguished panel will review their work for scholarship opportunities. Songle’s award-winning photograph was also featured in the Delaware Regional Scholastic Art Awards Gold Key Exhibition at Delaware State University’s Arts Center Gallery in Dover.

All three students’ artwork will be showcased on the Scholastic website, representing Delaware for the entire year. Their success highlights the incredible talent within our region and the power of visual storytelling among young artists.

Congratulations to these students for their dedication and creative excellence!
