Founded in 1927, the Salesianum spring track program won five out of the six independent league championships from 1960 to 1966, as well as over 20 state championships and nine second-place finishes since 1969. Head Coach Tim Byrne was named High School Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year in 2023. Notable alumni include Vic Zwolak, who ran in the 1964 Olympics and received multiple Delaware sports honors and awards, and six-time state champion Eric Eckstrand ’00.
Salesianum School
Salesianum School educates and develops the whole person based on the teaching of Saint Francis de Sales, whose spirituality can be summarized in “Live Jesus.” As an independent Catholic secondary school founded by the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales in 1903, Salesianum challenges young men through dynamic college preparatory and extracurricular programs to live as Salesian Gentlemen devoted to faith, community, and service.
