Entrance Exam
Salesianum administers the Closed Catholic High School Placement Exam
(HSPT) to prospective incoming students. This is a national exam that
Salesianum has used for over 35 years, and that 85% of catholic high schools
are using.
The exam will be administered to all eighth grade students on Saturday,
December 4, 2010 at 8 AM and Sunday, December 5 at noon. To register
for this exam, simply write on the application that you are requesting
the
Sunday
test
date.
An entrance ticket will be mailed out to all students registered one
week
prior to the exam. Extended time is given for those students with diagnosed
learning disabilities. Documentation must be received by November 15th
to receive this accommodation. Students will be notified of their results
by early February.
Seventh grade students are invited to take the entrance exam as a practice
test on March 12, 2011 at 8AM.
Students wishing to prepare for the exam may invest in a high school placement prep book, which can be found at any neighborhood bookstore. However, students should not attempt to cram for the exam. The best preparation is often continued attention to eighth grade studies and a good nights sleep.
- Students need to pre-register at least a week in advance of the exam date.
- The non-refundable fee for the exam is $55.00.
- Students should arrive by 8:00AM and are usually dismissed around 12PM.
- Students should bring two number 2 pencils.
- Calculators are not permitted.
- Eighth grade students will be notified of results by early
February and 7th grade students will be notified in April.
Students who have the highest national percentile composite scores on
the December test are eligible for academic scholarships. In addition,
students with the top five composite scores are eligible to receive academic
scholarships that equal one half of the tuition. |
