Sophomore Brian Murphy Receives Gold Key in Prestigious Scholastic Art Awards
The Scholastic Arts Awards is the country's largest and oldest high school art competition, with tens of thousands of students from all over the U.S. participating yearly. In Delaware alone, 1,800 students submitted works of art to be judged by a panel of professional artists and designers from the region.
The jury selects the top works to receive an Honorable Mention, a Silver Key, and the prestigious Gold Key. The Gold Key is awarded to only 5-7% of the artwork entered in the competition. Each state's Gold Key recipients then have their artwork reviewed by a national jury in February as they compete for scholarships nationally.

Sophomore Brian Murphy earned the Gold Key his first time entering the Delaware Regional Scholastic Art Awards competition with his black and white photography of our Salesianum Chapel. His photography will be displayed at the Arts Center at Delaware State University in Dover from January 30th to February 17th and in the Scholastic Art Awards online gallery for the year.
