What is the Salesianum Alumni Service Corp (ASC)?
The ASC offers a distinguished group of Salesian Gentlemen the chance to live in community at Salesianum serving the school – and its students - in a variety of ways. The ASC is not only an opportunity for alumni to give back to their alma mater and community, it's an opportunity for valuable work experience and spiritual growth.
Salesianum provides members of the ASC with housing, medical benefits and a monthly stipend. Members of the ASC work with the current faculty, staff and students in continuing the mission of the school to educate young men in the example of the gentleman saint, Francis de Sales.
If selected what would I do?
Chosen members gather for an orientation retreat at the end of the summer and then join the Salesianum faculty for their back-to-school meetings before the start of classes. Members will be assigned to serve in the Center for Faith and Justice, the Activities Office or the Advancement Office. Although each member will have a primary assignment, the membership of the ASC will be called upon to assist in a variety of ways across campus. A typical day for a member of the ASC could begin working with the admissions office meeting with prospective students, then transitioning to a session with the student council for an upcoming event, or working on a service initiative with the office of Faith and Justice. In the spirit of the Direction of Intention, members of the ASC will need to demonstrate a willingness to tackle whatever challenges and obstacles the day may bring. To aid in professional and personal development, each ASC member meets regularly with school leadership and is given the opportunity to manage difficult aspects of school operations.
How and where do Alumni volunteers live?
Furnished, community housing for the members of the ASC is provided in the adjacent Triangle neihborhood. Salesianum provides the basic utilities at the house which include: heat, water, electricity, phone, internet and cable. Members receive a small monthly stipend and lunch is be provided daily at the school.
What is community living?
The foundation of this program is based on community living, where the focus is on spiritual and personal growth. Together, with the director of the program, various communal activities will take place regularly such as: spirituality discussions, nightly dinners and meetings with Oblates and members of the broader Salesianum community.
When does the program begin?
Applications are now being accepted for the next cohort, who will serve from August 2017 to June 2018.

Who is eligible for the Alumni Service Corp?
- Must be a Salesianum graduate from the class of 2012 or younger:
- Must have earned a four- year degree from an accredited college or university. (All majors are encouraged to apply);
- Should be dedicated to one year of service and community living;
- Should be willing to be challenged both at work and at ASC residence.
- Should be enthusiastic and a self- starter.
