Physical Education and Health

Salesianum educates the whole person, which includes, mind, body and spirit.

The health and physical education department seeks to provide a variety of athletic activities that develop fitness skills and educate our students about healthy lifestyles.  Our goal is to develop habits of exercise, good nutrition and teamwork that will stick with our students throughout the rest of their lives.

Health and physical education are taught over the freshman and sophomore years. The physical education course is designed to allow all students to actively participate regardless of skill level. This fitness based course exposes students to a variety of team sports and recreational games. Students are also instructed to apply fitness principles emphasized in the health course. Juniors and seniors may elect to study sports psychology and principles of coaching.

All students and faculty are encouraged to make use of the Anthony N. Fusco, Sr. Athletic Center, a state-of-the-art fitness facility dedicated in 2012, with 44,884 square feet of weights, cardio machine, locker rooms and even a lecture hall. Trainers are on duty after school to instruct students in proper use of equipment and to develop free training plans which help each student to meet his individual fitness goals.
