Salesianum Seniors Named National Merit Commended Students

9 Members of the Class of 2010 Recognized

Salesianum School is pleased to announce that 9 current seniors were recognized as National Merit Commended Students. The seniors are Raymond F. Bounds, Carlo K. Cinaglia, Owen J. Corey, Patrick F. Eells, Austin J. Greever, Nicholas J. Gunia, Joseph S. Mathew, George M. Patterson, and Daniel M. Troyan.

In late September, more than two-thirds or about 34,000 of the approximately 50,000 high scorers on the PSAT/NMSQT® received Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. Commended Students are named on the basis of a nationally applied Selection Index score that may vary from year to year and is below the level required for participants to be named Semifinalists in their respective states. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit® Scholarships, some of these students do become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.

Salesianum School is a Roman Catholic independent secondary school that teaches young men to Live Jesus, guided by the spirituality of Saint Francis de Sales, through a college preparatory education, enabling them to take their place in the world as Salesian gentlemen.
